A Maryland Specialty…
We spent this past weekend in Maryland, with my husband’s family to celebrate his birthday! One of the evenings, his parents kindly purchased a TON of freshly steamed and seasoned (Old Bay) crabs for dinner. For those not from Maryland (like myself), “eating crabs” is a state tradition and is a time to get messy, relax and chat with family and friends! We find ourselves sitting hours at a time, picking the meat slowly out of shells and enjoying each other’s company…Maryland crabs aren’t just delicious, they are an experience!
The sun was slowly sinking, giving me perfect light to shoot in and I couldn’t resist documenting and sharing this fun evening!
The crabs come in these brown paper bags, steaming hot and ready to be devoured!
Poor little guy. :)
The insides! Maybe not for the squeamish, or is it just a lesson in crab anatomy?!
A wooden mallet is necessary…you certainly work for your food when crabs are for dinner!
The shell piles grow…
His first Maryland crabs!
Clean-up is a breeze with heavy brown paper tablecloths and a roll of paper towels for napkins!
Of course, we didn’t forget about dessert! :)
Have a great week!
